Guidelines for Posters

Formatting

Your poster should be no larger than 142 cm X 106.5 cm, with the longer dimension being horizontal. These dimensions have a 4 x 3 ratio.

Poster Guideline Image

Resolution

It is recommended that you use the highest resolution possible for your images, 150 dpi or higher.

Font

Remember that the poster will need to be read from 1.5 meters away; you need to ensure that the font point size is large enough for this.

  • normal text minimum 32-point (larger is better; try 40)
  • sub-headings between 54 to 72 points
  • main title should be 80 to 96 points

Recommended fonts are Arial, Times New Roman, Verdana, Garamond or Palatino, with Arial and Verdana best for headings. For consistency, use the same font throughout. Use bold, italic, upper case and bullets for emphasis. Increasing the line spacing can also help to make text more readable. Use line spacing to help make text fit in a text box or in the space you want it to.
